What our clients are saying...

I am so happy we found this place in Hilo. It is a lovely place, close to downtown. All rooms are well appointed. The sitting area is very comfortable. Everything is very clean and Breakfast is outstanding. The best of all is the conversation with Gay. As an Inn Keeper we had lots in common. Thanx Gay for a wonderful stay.

We stayed at Hilo Honu Inn for 3 nights in December. This place is incredibly welcoming, beautiful, and clean. The hostess Gay is hospitable and very generous. We stayed in the Honu Nest suite and loved the ocean style decoration in the room. The place is quiet at night and the bed is comfortable. We had our best nights of rest in Hawaii here. Each morning, the hostess prepared breakfast with fresh and tasteful ingredients. She will chat with her guests during breakfast time and share knowledge about the places and culture of big islands as well as her own experience in Hilo. To our surprise, she is also a great Hula dancer. We were lucky to see her performing a piece and learn the basic language of Hula dance. There is a limited number of hotels/ b&b in Hilo, but this place is definitely a place to stay at on your vacation and will add value to your experience in Hawaii.

Excellent B&B to stay! Wonderful experience there! The room is well decorated and clean. Be there with my parents as a family trip, we have a wonderful time over there.Definitely will return and try the Japanese room up-floor. Gay, the owner, is very helpful and she is a hula dancer and willing to share the real Hawaiian culture and location information with you. The breakfast is delicious! And location is great!

A perfect place to stay in Hilo. We stayed for 4 nights in Sept 2017. This beautiful B&B is located right in downtown Hilo and 30 minutes away from Hawai'i Volcanoes NP. We had an amazing stay in Hilo because of the hostess Gay. Gay provided suggestions on where to go and where to eat in Hilo. The room we stayed in was spacious, clean, comfortable, & quiet. But the most enjoyable part was hearing the interesting stories from Gay about Hilo, Hawaiian culture, history, and islands every morning over a scrumptious breakfast prepared daily. The inn itself is also quite amazing with its history and antiques present. Would definitely recommend staying here. We felt like ' ohana' in Hawai'i due to Gay's hospitality. Can't wait to return to Hilo & stay at the Hilo Honu Inn again.

Beautiful home, hostess Gay is very hospitable and has many interesting facts and stories to tell about Hilo and the mansion. Within walking distance of downtown, restaurants, markets, shopping. An excellent choice.

The inn keeper, Ms. Gay, is amazing and very accommodating of my last minute request for a room for 1 night. Although I was not able to enjoy the breakfast with the other guest because of an early start for work, she prepared and left in my room fridge a delicious mini breakfast -- so thoughtful!! The room was comfortable and I LOVED the shower!!! Being there made me feel like I was back in old Hawaii and staying with family! I'd highly recommend staying here; it's a way better alternative than staying at the Hilo hotels on Banyan Drive, Cheers.

I had the pleasure of staying at this B&B with my friend this past August. We rested in the samurai suite. the room definitely lives up to its name as there is a japanese vibe. There is a TV with several channels, but DVDs are also available downstairs; it is a perfect way to end an adventurous day! The bathroom is gorgeous with a large bathtub accompanied by a walk in shower. The Hilo Honu Inn is spacious yet homey; however what truly makes one feel welcomed is the hospitality and kindness of owner, Gay. She went above and beyond to make our trip memorable! From delicious home-cooked meals to advice about the best local spots, Gay is honestly the definition of a great hostess. I can't wait to come back... until then, aloha and mahalo.

My friend and I stayed at the Hilo Honu Inn and it was perfect. The location is great and it had a beautiful overview of downtown Hilo. We stayed in the Samurai room which was Amazing, the decor was interesting and the setup of the room told a story in itself. The bathroom was super nice and big, with a huge bathtub. Although it was just my friend and I the upstairs can accommodate a whole family including another room with an extra two beds. The Host Gay, or as I like to say Aunty Gay was obviously so nice and informative on some great spots to check out! The whole experience was awesome, and it was almost hard to leave the B&B and go explore when the room was so nice and comfortable. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Hilo.
